Evaluation

How does your media produce use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Decipher is a Crime/ Thriller film this means that its vital and very important that we have the correct conventions that would make the film suit the genre and make the film look good when finished and shown to the audience.  In order for the film to work and look appealing to the customer's we need to make sure that all the conventions are meet to the correct standard to look like a crime/ thriller.

The conventions that we need, have to be powerful and connect with the audience to attract them to watching the film. When you watch crime drama films you see that lots of films involve stark lighting which would link to our film throughout as we have dimmed the contrast and the brightness of the whole film.

Here you can see stark lightning taken from what we created in the film. You can see that it has a main focus on the face of the person and around this you see that its very dark so that there is a main focus on the character.  We have used stark lighting in our film to have a mysterious and dramatic effect to keep the audience guessing on what has happened or what is going to happen. The reason that this is used in the film also it to hide the identity or Reece until later in the film where you see the truth of the character.

Another typical convention would be the canted angles, when we were doing our research a member in the group was looking at Casino Royale and decided that they liked the shot and if we could it would be a good idea to implement this into our film making so we got the opportunity to do so and we did and we are all very impressed with the result that we had got from this.

We also use black and white in the film to show the flash back scenes which are very effective as its clear to the audience that its in the past and that Ryan is trying to refresh his mind. This is a typical convention is crime/ thriller films as when you look at Casino Royale you can see that its used here and looks suspicious and makes you wonder what is happening. In our film we used black and white to show that time has passed and Ryan is trying to remember what was happening and its used to show that the past is in his mind and he is thinking about what happened on the night. The black and white scenes have also been slowed down slightly this was used to show real time and that he is struggling to the the information.

Typical conversion would be the titles that we have created, The Dark Night is noticed as a similar style as it has a black background with the white text that is bold, the difference between this and ours is that we have inner titles and that our name of the film is at the end whereas in most films its at the beginning, the reason we have done this is so that if people are interested they have to look and watch the rest of the film to see the name.

When we are looking at Casino Royale and The Dark Night diagetic sound would also be used, we use this alot when we have created our film, the main times we use this is in the dialogue when we are speaking at this happens a lot in our film mostly in the interrogation scenes.

In Decipher, we use representation a lot especially with the social groups you see this in the interrogation scene, you see Ryan which is a common character that is wearing normal everyday clothes and looking quite common which to the audience would suggest that that person would be committing the crimes as he is working class and looking rough and wanting to start fights. you then see Reece which is in a suit and is upper class, from this character you would expect that he would be posh and would not cause any problems and would be helping the community, however this has been turned around in our film and in fact this person if the murderer and causes all the problems this is not scene until the end and then is subverted.

We also have another representation of the woman, as women are scene to be innocent and quite, scared etc, the film takes this in mind and sticks with this as the character does not have any dialogue to say suggesting quite and over powered and then she dies at the end this is seen in all good and crime films that stick to the conversions that the audience can see and love and gets them involved in what is going to happen next, always playing mind games.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When we were deciding what instusution we are going to be using and looking at for the film we as a group chosen Warner Bros, the reason for this being that when we were doing research most of the films that we are looking at from Crime/ thriller dramas were distributed by Warner Bros.  The departed, The Dark Night and Swordfish were all distributed by Warner Bros and have been very successful. We are also going to be Warner Bros due to the fact that they are very well known for creating film and the success for the films that they make and produce.

As well as using a well known institution we are going to be using our own personalized area which is called DynamiteKitty Studios, the reason that we have decided to have this is becuase independent companies have been known for producing many Crime/ Thriller dramas.  The logo that we have for the DynamiteKitty Studios is a black and white Cat/ panther. The use of the black and white links in with the titles that is on the film.

What would the audience be for your media product?

The audience that we would be looking at when doing a crime film would be very similar to films that have been produced by company's such as Warmer Bros. They would have a specific audience for each genera of films ranging from romantic film to action and Horror/ Crime films.

The audience that we would be looking at would be aimed at people that are intrested in Crime films, interested in seeing the action of death and danger and what happens before the build up, how the film is actually presented.
The target audience that we are going to have and aim our crime film at would be people that are interested in the film and the opening of what we are going to produce:

The average age of the people that would come and watch the film would be people in the age group of 18- 35 and 36- 64 the reason that we have came up with this age group is because it would have an age limit on it of 18. the main reason that we think this is with the film having people being murdered in this it would be very dramatic for anyone under this age range. As a result of this younger children would not be allowed to see this a the film has clear violence.

This would also link with the genera of the films as the target audience life style would be for the classes we have chosen would be, Managers would ware suits and ties, as would people in the film they would be wearing the same type of clothes.

On the social Stratification table the people that would be very likely to come and watch our film would be people that are in the social group of C1, B and A. This means the people would be the lower middle class, the middle class and the upper/upper middle class. This basically means that people that have enough income to be able to afford to go to the cinema to pay the money to watch a film would be the people that have a good income.  one reason that we think this is most likely is the simple reason that is shows the same representation in the film with the working class being framed as the evil and the person committing the crimes when in fact this was not true and would link with the out side world as people are looked upon as they think people that are not as posh and don't have as much money always cause the problems.

How did you attract/ address your audience?

one way in which we are attracting the audience to our film would be through the typical conventions that we mentioned before, with the use of black and white and the use of the camera shots etc.  We would also attract people by the use of the representation of the social groups, as some of this would be true to the crime / thriller genre some of the representations have been subverted as this is apparent with the upper class committing the crimes when you would expect it would have been working class.

The way in which we are also attracting people would be when they are watching the film and to make then have to plot out what happened as there would and is twists in the film such as revealing the murder that would be unexpected so early on in the film, by doing this it makes the audience want to know why this was done and who was responsible, the only way in which they would be able to find this would be to watch the rest of the film.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When I have been making the film Decipher I have learned lots of different technologies such as making sure that everything that has been planned before trying to go ahead and planning along the way, i found the best way was to know what you were doing before it was done as it could cause big problems when further on in the process.

I have also learnt that to make a film look as realistic as we can, we need to have the correct props, such as in Decipher we have the blood to suggest that someone has been injured or something more serious, we also have the handcuffs which are not seen, we have the knife which is covered in blood which shows that its been used, and the use of the clothes that we have on. All this is used to show the audience that the film has been thought about and that we have done as much as possible to make the film look successful.

I also thought that its vitally important to have a steady hand when using the camera, if the tripod could not be used the camera would be getting used free hand which can lead to the camera being shaken when walking etc. To prevent this issue Katie's dad made a steady cam which worked very effectively as the camera could sit on a pivot which allowed us to be able to walk with the camera and move swiftly without the camera moving too much.

The editing- this was proving quite tricky at first as we had never used this before but gratefully a member in the group was use to this software and brought the laptop in with Adobe After Effects and Elements on the laptop that could be used. With this software it allowed us to be able to edit the work to a good standard. It allowed us to be able to create the titles and but the footage in order to edit it and look good when playing to the audience.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full project?

The most i feel that i have learnt when doing the media tasks would be to make sure that continuity is touched upon much more when creating the final project, when we are doing the project at first we did not have much idea on what we needed to look at and do in terms of the 180 degree rule etc. I also feel that I have learnt a lot about having to keep everything the same, you need to make sure that you have enough footage of the same scene, the more the better as if you were to miss something if if it did not look right you have more footage from different angles that you can include in needed. In the continuity and prisoner clips we had some footage that was missing as this was a issue we needed to make sure that this was prevented in the final clip, in order to make sure we had everything we done a 40 min clip with the camera not moving to ensure everything was included as well as this we have over 3 of the same scene with the camera at different angles etc.

I have also learnt that we need to have the Mise- en- scene in a full aspect that we all understand, this would include making sure that we have the same clothes on at all times when filming and that the blood from the flash back of Decipher was on the same side on the face in the flash backs and in the interrogation area. We also needed to make sure that with the different areas in mind that we were going to with the final project we had to make sure that the places that we go to suit the genre and it would look good and that we stick to the continuity of the 180 degree and the other rules that are in place for a positive and worth while watching film that I hope that as a group we created.

Talking about the final cut

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.co.uk/search?updated-max=2012-04-04T06:38:00-07:00&max-results=7

Here you can see a link of the final cut that we created from Katie's blog.

When watching the clip you can automatically see the institutions which are Warner Bros, we used this for the simple reason that they are very popular and that most films by them are very successful. They also produce lots of crime/ thriller films.

0.20 At this point you see a personalized institution which is DynamiteKitty; this is something that we have stuck with throughout the final project and when we first started the media project and sticking with this through our continuity projects etc.

0.25 and throughout you see the titles, these are black and white we have used these simple but very effective titles for the simple reason that it suits the clip perfect, this links with the crime/ thriller genere. The titles use a simple swipe in and swipe out effect which again keeps it simple but easily readable to people watching. The reason that Black and White was also used it to link in with the flash back scenes that also run throughout in the clip.

0.40 Here you see a clip of the interrogator which is Reece, this person is blacked out almost to secure his identity as he is used more often in the clip. The shot works really well with what we are trying to create, the mysterious and suspicious effect. We used the camera and titled it slightly to create the canted shot which you can see. To darken the shot the editing software was used and at this point we needed to change the brightness.

0.48 At this point you can see Ryan Taylor (Barry) this is the person that is being interrogated for something that this person did not do but this would be seen throughout the rest of the clip. Again you can see that the brightness and the contrast has been changed and this is similar throughout. Here we have tried to created an injury to the head which looks really effective and keeps the people watching interested in how this happened which would be seen in the flash backs.

1.02 You can see that there are 2 people in this shot and this is the person interrogating and the suspect. This shot looks effective as it shows nothing around this area and its totally black which shows the danger of the clip and makes people suspicious of whats happened. You can see very faintly that there are some lights in the center of the table this is one of our props, the tape recorded which is used to make the clip look more realistic and as though this is a proper interrogation that is being recorded for evidence.

1.07 here you can see that it goes into the flashback scene, you can see that this has changed to black and white which shows that its in the past and Ryan Taylor is refreshing his mind and trying to remember what happened on the night of the accident which will be seen later in the clip.

1.20 you can also see at this point that things are much slower this is because we have slowed the clips down to make it look to the audience that Ryan Taylor is struggling to remember what happened and to make it look like a more realistic situation.

1.22 Here again you can see more titles that run before and after the flashbacks this again has been used to slow the process down (Inner Titles)

1.54 Again you can see the flashbacks but you see a change of scenery at this point this is when they have left the house and walking looking for somewhere to go. Camera angle is used here to show the open area and to look as though someone is watching them and they have no idea about it.

2.06 This has gone back to the interrogation at this point the camera is looking directly at Ryan Taylor we done this as it shows the fear and the sadness of the person trying to remember what happened and being framed for something that he didn't do.

2.19 at this point you can see that the camera is titled this angle is called a canted shot this looks very effective and is showing the argument, you also see that it looks as though the male character is higher at this point showing that he is more dominant and overpowering towards the girl.

2.23 you can see that the girl pushed Ryan Taylor suggesting the argument it getting heated and can turn out dangerous, this is why Ryan Taylor is being interrogated. (More to be seen throughout the clip)

2.32 Here you can see an unexpected character enter from the left this person is holding something in his hand suggesting that he is potentially dangerous and is heading over to Ryan Taylor

2.35 Here you can see the unexpected person raises his hand and the weapon that he is holding and goes to hit Ryan over the head which shows why the head injury has happened. Before Ryan gets hit the screen goes and fads to black to show that something has happened and that he has been knocked out.

2.43 you can again see Ryan interrogated and is looking directly at the camera this again shows that the audience can see the fear and the scared face.

2.45 you see a flask back of the woman on the floor dead this person has been killed by the unexpected person however they think it was Ryan as they were arguing.

2.55 at this point you can see the face that was hidden at first the reason that you can now see this is the simple reason that its the same person that hit Ryan and killed the girl, as this person is the interrogator he is protecting himself from getting locked up for a murder and has flipped the story around to make it sound as though Ryan is being framed.

3.16 Here you can see Reece, you can also see a weapon in his hand which is a knife with blood on, you can see that this would be the weapon that killed the woman that Ryan is being framed for

3.30 At this point you can see the name of the film which is Decipher. When you watch lots of films you usually see this first before the rest of the clips are shown. However we have flipped this around and put it at the end as it keeps people interested and makes they have to watch the clip to see what the film is called.

Making Of

http://vimeo.com/39797589

Here you can see a link to Vimeo, this basically shows the steps that we were talking and discussing when we were making the interrogation scene and the way in which we approached the making of the film, we done this to make sure that the group as a whole would be happy with what was getting produced and what the final outcome would be like.

Power Point

Here you can see the power point that was made and presented to the class last Tuesday. This has the information about the way in which we make and researched to make the final piece that we also showed to the class and discussed why we made it and the result/outcome that we produced at the end.

Interview

In today's lesson we have been out with our Teacher talking about the film and the reason that we created the film we were asked a number of question that consisted of question on representation, our audience, the genera of the film and what made us choose the genera. throughout this the answerer's were really detailed and we were pleased with that we have been talking about all the information is relevant just basically shows an informal way of discussing the film before coming to do a PowerPoint in a lesson next week where will will talk about the film and show it to the rest of the class.

Absent

Unfortunately Katie is again off ill, this means that we cannot work on the little aspects of the edit of the film as the laptop is in Katie's possession.

As this problem has occurred Me and Reece have just been talking about the evaluation and we have been discussing some points about the way that we can show the comparison between our film and the effects that we were trying to create, for example the interrogation scene that we have created was similar to a Sherlock film that we had seen. With the previous rough cut and the one that had been edited again side by side, we could again create this effect and this would show that we were trying to create and then the why in which we did create this, with the use of the lighting, the place where we were, and what we were wearing as this would show power and authority over one and other. All of this is used to create a positive and real life, natural feel.

Absents

In the lesson today again Katie is off due to illness however we have been communicating with her and she knowes the issues that we have had with ragards of the film the only proplem was we needed to have 2 more titles. This is fine and it was clear and understandable.

Titiles Again

When the teacher went home last night he was looking at the comparison of the 2 films side by side, over all the film was spot on, however there were a few problems with the titles, one of these were that the Name of the Film was spelt slightly wrong and in stead of having Co- Written we need to have written by this is the only issue that we have and the film is spot on.

More Titles

In the lesson we have been looking to make sure that everything is in order, during this time we have been on looking to make sure that the titles are in the correct order, we have noticed that we still bneeeded to inculde roughley another 3 titles however this would not affect the film too much as we can but these after the Warener Bros logo but before our logo. What we need to have is, we need Warener Bros presents, a Dynamite Kitty productions, Filmed by Katie Boal, Barry Stubbs and Reece Wilkins... When Reece got his ipod out and played a film that he has on there we have seen that yes this is needed and would be implemented in the front of our film as soon as possible to make sure that its compleate and this will be all the titles that are needed.

Absents

In todays lesson we are going to be discussing the representation for the film that we have created the reason for this being that we are one person down which is Katie who is the only person that has the access to the laptop.

Katie should be in for the next lesson which is tomorrow if she fells better. Hopefully everything will be fine.

Final- Rough Comparison

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.com/2012/02/tweaking-and-extras-film.html

The link above will show you the difference in the editing that we have been working on in the last few lessons, when you play this back you would be able to see what the difference in color is, the way that the titles are set out as in the older version you could see that we were happy with how we produced these, however when the teacher was looking back you could see that some of the titles were in the wrong order this has now been changed as you would be able to see.

When you look at the new one you would also be able to see that we now have the Warner Bros logo we also have our logo which we have also implemented, When we were showing the original version to the teacher he did not like the way in which we had the name of the film at the end as we had it starting very slow and small and it then shot up in front of you. this has now been changed and it matches the rest of the titles where it sweeps in from one side and then goes when it comes to the other side.

In the Lessons

In the last 2 lessons we have been working on the editing of the final opening of the film that we have created, during this time we have managed to get most of the corrections done as we don not have too many to worry about because of this it means that have not has to get them done as quickly as possible meaning that we have managed to make sure that its a good quality and that the group is happy with what it looks like and sounds like.

We have added the titles onto the opening now as well we are very happy with what they look like and they work and fit into the film amazingly well, as we have put then during the flashback it means that it also slows the flashbacks down a bit before the interview again this is a good and positive thing that its created.

The music that we got from secession studios is also implemented onto the opening, original the clip was not long enough for the opening as its now over 3 Min's as we have also got the titles on this. However we have managed to stretch and add more onto the music which again means that its perfect and still fits with the film.

The last thing that we needed to do was to ensure that we but the distributor and our logo onto the beginning of the clip, this again has now been done as we have the Warner Bros logo, however this does not have the sound on the minuet but we are going to be working on this in the next lesson and hopefully it will be completed with sound throughout.

By making sure that we have implemented all of the corrections that we were given we now hope that we are firmley into the L4 area and very close to having 60 marks for this area of the making and editing. Overall the group is very pleased with what we have created and we are happy with the progress that we have made over the last few weeks and the progress we are making to be finished the final piece which is due in for submission fully finished with the titles included etc for the 12th March.

Rough Cut

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.com/2012/02/rough-cut.html

Here is a link to Katie's blog which has the video of the rough cut we are very pleased with what we have created during this in terms of the video and the edit of it, as this is not the final piece this would not be perfect and some things may still need to be changed this will be done once we know what the teacher thinks and when we come as a group to review it again.

Titles

From the point of today we had been thinking about possible titles that we could have when playing the opening of the film, as this has only been thought about we have actually made some and we are very happy with what has been created.

The titles are very simple however they work really well with what we have created. The original idea is to have white writing on a black background as this would link in with the flashbacks that we have created. the titles come in from the left hand side and are dim and they brighten and this sticks and they they fade back out which look very good. I will but a demonstration on of the titles soon so you can see what i mean.

Todays the Final Day

In the lesson today we have been making sure that everything is in order for the rough cut of the film that we have to have in for the deadline today, as a group we have looked at this and found some very positive and negative parts which have not been changed, the teacher Mr Earl has been and had a quick look and from what he can see without the titles is very positive and he is happy with this and he says its a level 3 piece at the moment this is without the titles and final edit in place.

The final rough cut is still let to be put onto the bog but this will be done so before 12am tonight. The rough cut that has been created there is only one part missing which is a voice over which we are going to leave and implement into the final clip that you will also see on the bog.

We have also managed to get some music that we are very pleased with from the business that said we can use the music which is secession studios, we are very thankful for this music and we also fee that it works really well with what we have produced as the music builds up and creates a tense atmosphere which makes it very effective with the genre that we have for the film.

More footage

Here we have some more footage which shows that Barry and Flossi are walking in the tunnel, we have decided that we do quite like this shot, however there is some shaking on this as Me and Flossi are walking and so is Katie meaning the camera is moving. we like the part when Katie walks past us and moves around to the back of Me and Flossi, some of the background look a little bit Gray and dull but this should not be as issue as we are going to be making this black and white. we would have a cut out of this at the end as when it comes to 16 seconds in the bags and other equipment that we have started to show, if this was cut out this is a good piece of footage.

Reviewing some Flashback

Here I am going to review this part of the flashback, this clip is taken from Reece's house where Me and Flossi are getting ready to go on the night out. When we have been looking at this we have noticed that sometimes the auto focus happens this is a slight problem as it means that it moves the camera back and forth to try and set itself on the image its looking at. The auto focus happens during the 9,13 and 17th second(s) in the clip. This is a slight issue as this may be a piece of footage that we need, however luckily we have shot this more that one time meaning that we should hopefully have a better image on the camera.

absent

today we are in the the Media lesson, Reece is back from his absent from yesterday, however Katie is not this has left a little problem with the editing as Katie has the laptop that we are working on. However thankfully she if going to work on this at home even though she is not well so me and Reece are very thankful for this.

As this has happened it means that Me and Reece can't do allot but gladly we have some footage that we are going to look through and take notes of to fill the time, this also would means that this part of the editing would accrue faster as we know where the footage is that we need.

LOGO

Here you can see that we have finally got our logo, as you can see it has the name which is Dynamite Kitty Studios. the reason that we have this name is because we come up with this when we first had made a film in the Media lesson this name has stuck and shows that we are being consistent with this.

Todays lesson

In today's lesson we have a Little problem as I am the only person in the lesson the reason for this is because Reece and Katie are both off ill. As a result of this I am making sure that I am up to date with the blog entries that is required and I have got some footage on the Memory Stick that I will look through to make sure that I am doing something productive and that I am not waisting time.

The issue of Reece and Katie off should hopefully be back to normal for tomorrow, so that again we can sit down and make sure that we are making progress with the editing of out complete rough cut that needs to be entered for submission for Friday 10th February, 2012

Editing

In the last couple of lessons we have been siting as a group and going through the raw footage and writing down the shots and what number the clip is and then the things that happen in each clip such as the dialogue, the reason for this being that it makes it much easier to look through the clips and get the correct dialogue when coming to putting it in the correct software for editing, this will save us time.

In out lesson on Friday we were looking and we were editing some of the clips that we have of the interrogation scene, we will be adding in the flash backs during this.

raw footage

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.com/2012/01/example-shoot-raw.html
Here is a link to Katie's blog on this you will see some raw footage that we have got, this is to show how effective we have made it look as we have looked into seeing what the lighting will be like and how the camera will react to the lighting and to see what the actores would look like with this light, we are happy with the outcome of how this looks and are happy to edit now, we have started editing and we are making some progress into having the compleated rough copy finished for the up comming Friday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnBoySNupjs&feature=g-upl&context=G21b78cbAUAAAAAAAAAA&fb_source=message

This is a link to a you tube video that Reece has but on, this video is when Reece went out looking for a location and we found the tunnel that we are recently talking about, when looking at the video you can see that the lighting was not be best however it has been improved as there were some new lights put in, this means that the camera will pick up the lighting much easier and should look more effective, we have not shot this piece and it looks much better and we are Happy with the progress and what the footage looks like.

Editing

In the last few lessons we have been going out and using Katie's laptop to do some voice overs, now we think we have what is needed to do the rough cut of the editing.

In the lesson yesterday we were starting to edit and some of the clips that we had produced we skipping and were not playing through correctly so Katie is going to take them back home and re render them as it has not done this correctly in the mean time we all sat around the laptop and looked through the shots on windows media player. We have decided which shots we all like so  that they are ready for the editing again.

As the first edit that we are doing is only for a rough cut so that out teacher knows our progress and what we have made we are going to start this as soon as possible, we then will give the edited footage to Mr Earl to have a look and then we will get it back to do the final edit that we have 3 weeks to ensure that its correct and looks like and opening to a film.

Voice over and progress

In Fridays lesson last week and in yesterdays lesson, Katie brought in her laptop in which we came out of the lesson and we found a quite room in order to some voice overs, we also filmed some more lines of the actual script in case we needed them if the other did not sound very good, we are happy with the progress that we are making as the rough edit should be on its way very soon, we as a group are happy with the making of the film and the time frame that we sticked to, along the way we did have some little problems which we have overcome and managed to fix and find our way around and not we have the raw footage hopefully the editing will start very soon.

Some pictures of the filming

Here you can see that I have taken some pictures on my phone of what we were doing and the effect that we are trying to create, although you can see lots of details on this image you cant see this as much on the camera which gives a better effect and an effect that we wanted and what we were trying to create the reason my phone camera has take better pictures is for the simple reason that the megapixels are better than the video camera, as this has been done we will take some screen shots of some images of the film and up load them once we have had a look to see what it looks like and when we are happy with what we have done.

Tuesday

On Tuesday me, Reece and Katie stayed back as school and filmed one part of the opening of the film this was the interrogation scene, we were in school until 6.30 pm and managed to get this one part finished, along the way we had a few problems such as the memory on the camera soon filled up so we quickley logged onto a computer to see that you can not delete from this, however we managed to delete form the camera which meant that we could carry on with the rest of the filming and its done and we are very happy with the progress and the acting and what we have shot and the way that it looks

Another prop

Here you can see that this is another prop that we will be using, it first we didn't have a rounders bat so we were going to use something that looked very simalar, however Katie has managed to find this from home which is much better and would look more effective.

MurderOutfit

As you can see I have some pictures underneath that are of the murder outfit that will we worn when we are in the tunnel that will be used in the flash backs, that will be in black and white, These clothes would represent many different things such as the fact that the top is red would suggest danger and death, the black top and jeans would represent again darkness and danger, as you know Reece would be the person that is wearing this, however he at the beginning at the interrogation scene Reece will be the character that is the detective trying to find out who was the murder when he knows in fact that he is the person that is the murderer trying to cover for himself.

Monday, 9 January 2012

As you can see these are some clothes that would represent the everyday life of one of the characters, this will be used to show the working class between the suspect and the detective, for some reason they have turned up side down when i have uploaded them however you can see see what they are like and the reason behind them. The use of the light colours are to show that the character is a happy, jolly person and he is kind and loving, however he is suspected of a murder, we know it was not this character however the audience does not so the use of the light clothes and with is being a tracksuit would make it think that they are a gangster and they are rough and want to look for a fight over the actor in the suit.

Props and Costumes

As you can see this is one prop that we will be using when come to film the final opening, this will be hidden from view for most of the time as this person at the beginning is seen to be the innocent person, but in fact this person has commited the murder.

As this person is a detective he should be wearing some very neat clothes to show his importance and authority over the other characters.

This again is the suit that Reece will be wearing as the detective.

This torch will be used to highlight the face of the characters to show that he is the one that is guilty and it will create light in the dark room we will be filming.

This again is one of the probs this is the murder weapon that has the finger prints on of the detective however the story has been turned onto me and I will be getting accused.

This again is one of the props.

As the girl gets murdered and I the innocent character gets knocked out this is the weapon I will be hit with.

This is a police badge that Reece will be wearing again to show the authority he has to turn the story around and to show he is a detective,  but also the one that murdered the girl.

Story Board

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.com/2012/01/story-board.html

This is a link to Katie's blog where she has created an amazing storyboard on Paint, this will help to to intricate where the characters should be and the lighting, this will also give you and the audience a clear view of what we are trying to create and what it should look like when we come to film it.

Hope you like it!

script

http://katiesawesomeasmediablog.blogspot.com/2012/01/actor-script.html

This is a link from Katie's blog this is the new improved script, we originally had a script idea, however when we were reading through it we decided to change it a bit in order to make more sense. The first script has lots of inforamtion about the camera angles and what would be happening in each shot but with this one its more focused and makes more sense.

call sheet

I have created a very simple call sheet that we all should be able to understand.

Time to meet:

Location to meet:

Scene Description

Location

Cast

Characters

Extras (If needed)
Special Instructions

As you can see I have included the Time that we will be meeting, and the location we will be meeting.
The scene description and the location of the scene
The cast and characters that are needed
Extras and special instructions

The reason that I have included this on to a call sheet that has been made in a word documents is because we can get clear instructions over to the people that are involved so that they know what time we will be meeting, where we will be meeting, and the location of the filming.

The cast and characters are there so that if we need more people to come and help we can tell them there parts in which they will be doing and again it will confirm that they know what to do and where it will be.

The use of the extras and special instructions are vital when coming to do filming that is out of school grounds, the things that would go in theses boxes would be thing like make sure that you are well warped up as there may be rain, snow. Make sure you bring some food and drink if we were going to be at a location all day and not near any shops, or if we are near shops bring some money.

log sheet

I have made a log sheet in order to keep everything that we do in tact, so that we know what the shot number is, what is in the shot and what the actors are wearing to keep the continuity if we need to film something again.
The reason the log sheets are vital is to ensure that we have covered everything and by logging the progress that we are doing will help us as a group to make sure that we have done what is needed and we are happy with what we have done and the progression.

As I don't have PDF on the laptop I have decided to copy and paste it over, this will be the log sheet as you can see it says what shot number it is on the camera, and what the camera angle is. It also says what is in the shot so if we needed to do it again we could see what we need. basically this is what it will look like however it is on a word document. It also has more columns that are blank to fill in one the day's of filming.

Number of Shot
And camera angle
What’s in the shot
Who has filmed the shot
What props have been used (continuity)
What is the actor wearing (continuity)
