I am going to say what all the representations and later, we will say what representations will apply to our film making when we have a more clear idea and the script writing comes into place.

Ethnicity on tv
white people - strong, pure, heroes
Black people - strange, poor
Asian people- inelegant, nerdish, love technology
Indian People- large families, poor
Sexuality on tv
Gay men- camp, feminine, funny, attractive
Lesbians Women- bitchy, haters of men
Class on tv
upper class- rich, posh, snobby, cleaver
Middle class- normal, well presenter
Working class- not intelligent, help people
lower class- criminals, bad parents and people in general
Age on tv
children- pure
Teens- moody, lazy, hate school
20'2 and 30's- money, love, attractive
Middle age- not attractive, uncool
Elderly- not important, ill, confused, powerless
Regional Identity on tv
Scottish- alcohol, money, outdoors, violent
Irish- dim, not intelligent
English- football, rich, posh, happy, London, snobby
Gender on tv
Male- Hero, tall, strong, brave, usually hands on, aggressive, work to provide family
Female, pink, house work, pure, innocent, flirty.
As you can see in the Media these people are represented as theses types of people, however we all know this is not always the truth, in the film that we are going to produce the opening for we need to consider this to make sure that it looks effective and works with the genra and the representation of people.
Interesting list, Barry, but you need to consider the specific representations which link into your particular film. The crucial thing is to consider how you will present your key characters/ situations - what message will your portrayal communicate?
